Unless it specifies otherwise, where a plea bargain provides only for a maximum sentence, otherwise known as a lid, an appellant may challenge the exercise of the court’s discretion within that statutory maximum without obtaining a certificate of probable cause. Such a claim does not attack the validity of the plea.
