Imposition of the $50 drug laboratory fine pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 11372.5 is mandatory for a defendant convicted of a specified offense, as are the assessments pursuant to Penal Code sections 1464 and 1465.7 and Government Code sections 70372 and 76000 [disagreeing in part with People v. Taylor (2004) 118 Cal.App.4th 454, to the extent that the penalty pursuant to Government Code section 70372 is to be reduced depending on whether the county contributes to the specified entity]. The question of whether penalty assessments also apply to the $20 court security fee pursuant to Penal Code section 1465.8 is “close” one.
