There was substantial evidence of a finding of murder for financial gain where the gain, for the benefit of a third party, was a secondary purpose of the murder. Although defendant’s primary motivation for the murder of his girlfriend’s mother was to protect her from the mother’s abuse, it was secondarily to permit her to collect on a life insurance policy on her mother.
