Although the trial court acted beyond its statutory authority when it ordered the appearance period extended on a bail bond, the Surety is estopped from contesting the trial court’s jurisdictional authority to act. Here, the Surety requested and received a favor when the court, pursuant to a stipulation by the parties, extended the appearance period for the bond after the statutory 185 day time period had already lapsed. It cannot now bite the hand that performed the favor by contending that the trial court was without authority to toll the running of the 185-day period. The Surety cannot be permitted to “trifle with the courts.”
