There may be separate convictions for a sex offender’s (1) failure to file a change of address, and (2) failure to notify the responsible agency of his new address, even though one sentence must be stayed. Multiple convictions under Penal Code section 290.013, subdivisions (a) and (b), were proper based on the plain meaning of the statute, the principles of Penal Code section 954, and the express language of People v. Britt (2004) 32 Cal.4th 944. The subdivisions have closely related, but separate, elements. Appellant violated subdivision (a) by failing to notify the police within five days of his move from a registered address. He violated subdivision (b) by failing to notify the police of a new address within five days.
