READING SHASTA COUNTY REPORTER’S TRANSCRIPTS

The JCC has given CCAP permission to approve an over-guideline amount for reading Shasta County reporter’s transcripts that have 35 lines per page, based on a factor of 25%. CCAP will NOT be able to recommend an over-guideline amount for reading the clerk’s transcript. CCAP is able to approve an over-guideline amount for all new claims (interim and final) submitted on or after September 8, 2017.

Counsel will need to do the following to claim an over-guideline amount for reading a Shasta County reporter’s transcript:

1. Include an explanation on line 2 (record review) stating “Shasta County reporter’s transcript with 35 lines per page.”

2. Calculate the increase. The calculation to apply is:

[total actual RT pages] x 1.25 = [adjusted RT page count];
adjusted RT count + CT count = adjusted record;
adjusted record / 50 pages per hour = adjusted guideline amount for line 2.

Example

Actual RT is 100 pages and CT is 50 pages. Total actual pages: RT 100 + CT 50 = 150 pages.

Normal Guideline Amount
150 pages / 50 pages per hour = 3.0 hours guideline amount for record review

Adjusted Guideline Amount for Shasta County Reporter’s Transcript With 35 Lines
RT 100 x 1.25 = 125 adjusted RT
125 adjusted RT + CT 50 = 175 pages adjusted record
175 pages adjusted record / 50 pages per hour = 3.5 hours adjusted guideline amount for line 2

3. Claim the adjusted guideline amount for line 2. Do NOT adjust the record page count to reflect the adjusted RT count, only change the TIME you are claiming to read the record. The page count listed in the claim should still reflect the actual page count of the record.

Please note that we are unable to automatically adjust the calculated eClaims guideline for records in a Shasta County case. This is why counsel must calculate the adjustment, claim the time, and provide a comment.
