SDAP is inviting CCAP panel attorneys to their upcoming live webinar on Zoom, The Robotic Courtroom: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and the Future of the Law, presented by Dr. Beth Redbird from Northwestern University. The training is on Thursday, July 13 from 12:00 to 1:30 PM (Pacific Time). This is a timely topic given the recent incident in New York where attorneys submitted a legal brief that included fictitious case citations generated by an artificial intelligence chatbot (ChatGPT) and were sanctioned. (See New York lawyers sanctioned for using fake ChatGPT cases in legal brief, https://www.reuters.com/legal/new-york-lawyers-sanctioned-using-fake-chatgpt-cases-legal-brief-2023-06-22/.)
During the presentation, Dr. Redbird will discuss:
- What machine learning and artificial intelligence are – without (much) math;
- How such tools are currently used, and where they will be seen in the future;
- How to ethically, safely, and effectively interact with artificial intelligence;
- How to understand, use, and critique the evidence created by machine learning; and,
- Why these tools are likely the most consequential thing humans will ever invent.
A detailed summary of the presentation and information about Dr. Redbird is included in SDAP’s announcement for the webinar, which is available here: https://mailchi.mp/b2ff2772b3e1/sdap-panel-alert-we-have-a-new-website-16910270?e=3c29a6dff6.
