Below is a collection of Hmong letters to advise a client of the most common steps in the appellate process. In each sample, an English translation is included for reference before the Hmong translation.
The sample letters were drafted as generically as possible to describe routine milestone events in a normal appeal, and are not intended to provide specific legal advice. CCAP is providing this resource with the hope that any approved interpreter funds can be reserved for advising the client about case specifics.
Use Tip : These letters are in the White Hmong dialect. The other most common Hmong dialect is the Green dialect. The differences in dialects are often compared to American English and British English. Most Green Hmong speakers are able to read White Hmong, whereas some White Hmong speakers may have some difficulty understanding written Green Hmong.
All sample documents are available in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, and Adobe Acrobat format. Just choose which format you would like to download and that file will open in a new window.
